Solicitation of Prostitution
San Mateo Solicitation Attorney

Did you encounter an undercover police officer when you offered money for sex? Being charged with soliciting a prostitute is different from facing other charges, in that you face not only fines or jail, but embarrassment and damaged relationships. Solicitation is usually charged as a misdemeanor, but subsequent charges may not be. You may now face a felony charge.
Do not make a confession or talk to police without speaking to a lawyer. They may threaten to publicize the arrest or notify your employer or spouse.
I have dealt with these cases many times. My clients in San Mateo, California typically want privacy. I handle these cases in a way that minimizes those additional consequences, while minimizing fines, and potential jail time.
The district attorney doesn't want a trial either. They have a caseload including more serious crimes. They want a confession, or at least a plea that punishes you. In my negotiations with the prosecution, I show them their case is not provable.
This is what they must prove:
- You agreed to engage in an act of prostitution with another person;
- You intended to engage in an act of prostitution with that person;
